Born in 1944 and having passed away in 2024, Segerstam was a Finnish conductor, composer, violinist, and pianist. He studied at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki and the Juilliard School of Music in New York. Renowned for his versatility and innovative approach, especially in contemporary Nordic repertoire, he authored nearly 400 symphonies, making him one of history’s most prolific symphonic composers.
