Album insights
Joana Mallwitz, as the first female chief conductor of a Berlin orchestra, has released her debut DG album "The Kurt Weill Album" in collaboration with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin. This exceptional conductor has highlighted Kurt Weill's music, seamlessly combining his two symphonies, "Berlin Symphony" and "Symphonic Fantasy," through her meaningful interactions with the orchestra. The album, available digitally and on CD, features Weill and Bertolt Brecht's sharply satirical "Seven Deadly Sins," performed alongside singer and actress Katharine Mehrling and the Konzerthausorchester Berlin in an interpretation that showcases Mallwitz's artistic vision.
