Standards Vol.1

Keith Jarrett

Duration46 Min

A CD from the "Touchstones" series.

The artists had already played together in 1977 for Gary Peacock's "Tales of Another," but Jarrett's standards project, with its appreciation of the Great American Songbook, opened up new dimensions that made this trio one of the most beloved ensembles in jazz. In January 1983, the simple basic idea was established at New York's Power Station Studios: to honor the standards as compositions and explore the avenues that the material could open to a creative improviser. The performances are outstanding—with an exceptionally imaginative interpretation of "All The Things You Are" as well as deeply moving versions of "Meaning of the Blues" and "It Never Entered My Mind."
