Alexander Knaifel

In Air Clear and Unseen

ECM continues its documentation of outstanding music from the former Soviet Union, beginning with the album Svete Tikhiy by composer Alexander Knaifel, who was born in Uzbekistan and lives in St. Petersburg. This recording features the renowned Keller Quartet, pianist Oleg Malov, and the voice of Tatiana Melentieva, arranged by Andrei Siegle. This collaboration brings together significant new developments and impulses in Knaifel's music. The Keller Quartet plays with the conviction and artistic imagination they have demonstrated in their award-winning and critically acclaimed recordings of György Kurtág's "Music for Strings" and Bach's "The Art of Fugue."
