This filmed performance of Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker’s Mitten wir im Leben sind offers a compelling encounter between dance and music, set to Bach’s six Cello Suites. Performed live on stage by Jean-Guihen Queyras, the suites unfold alongside a choreography for five dancers, including De Keersmaeker herself, in which movement and music continually meet, diverge and realign. Rather than illustrating the score, the dancers respond to its structure, rhythm and energy, creating a vivid dialogue between body and sound. The result is a work of striking presence and intensity, inviting the viewer to experience Bach’s music in a new and deeply physical way.
