“What if we were all sidemen in the music itself?” asked Keith Jarrett, one day in the early 1980s. And the result was his Standards Trio – the acoustic line-up of Jarrett, bassist Gary Peacock and drummer Jack DeJohnette that redefined post-bop jazz in the 1980s and 1990s. "We show up, we do the soundcheck, we have dinner backstage, we chat," says Jarrett. "And then we go. And we play." And that's precisely what they do here: a glorious, freewheeling adventure through the Great American Songbook from Victor Young to Hoagy Carmichael, caught live on tour in Tokyo at the Trio's mid-'90s peak.
