Edin Karamazov has captured the attention of the music world with his captivatingly virtuosic performances as a lutenist and guitarist in Europe and the USA, earning unprecedented acclaim from both audiences and music critics. Karamazov has recorded numerous CDs as a soloist and performed worldwide with leading international early music ensembles and artists such as the Hilliard Ensemble, Hesperion XX, Andreas Scholl, and Sting.
With his outstanding interpretive skill and technical brilliance on numerous historical and contemporary string instruments, Edin Karamazov has thrilled concert audiences at venues including the Concertgebouw, Wigmore Hall, Berliner Philharmonie, and Konzerthaus Wien, to name just a few.
Mentored by Sergiu Celibidache, Edin Karamazov began his musical career with classical guitar and has won first prizes in a total of four guitar competitions, among other achievements.
He continued his studies of the Baroque lute with Hopkinson Smith at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis.
His discography includes the CD *Come heavy sleep* with works by Britten and Bach (alpha records), *A Musical Banquet* with Lutesongs featuring Andreas Scholl (Decca), *Wayfaring Stranger - Folksongs* with Andreas Scholl (Decca), and *Songs From the Labyrinth* with Sting (Deutsche Grammophon). Decca will release the CD “Lute is a Song” in March/April 2009, featuring solo works by J.S. Bach, Domeniconi, Monk, as well as arias with Andreas Scholl, Renée Fleming, and Sting.
