Albrecht Mayer Albrecht Mayer, a renowned oboist, has released the album “Tesori d’Italia” on the Deutsche Grammophon label, featuring Baroque oboe concertos by composers such as Vivaldi, Sammartini, Elmi, and Ristori.
Highlights include Vivaldi’s well-known Oboe Concerto in C major, as well as two world premieres and three rarely recorded concertos. Particularly noteworthy are Elmi’s A minor Concerto and Sammartini’s C major Concerto, Op. 8 No. 4, which are among the album’s new additions. Mayer’s selection of these pieces reflects his deep engagement with the European musical tradition, which has led him to discover the musical treasures of Italy. The recordings were made in Rome in collaboration with the renowned chamber orchestra I Musici di Roma. Mayer emphasizes how enriching it is to explore the history of these works, which were once performed throughout Europe and contributed to its cultural diversity.
