Scherzo No. 2 Following the celebrations of his 70th birthday at the beginning of the year, further recordings by the renowned Chopin interpreter have now been released.
The works included are the Preludes Op. 28, four Mazurkas Op. 30, two Nocturnes Op. 27, and Scherzo No. 2, Op. 31. The Preludes Op. 28 were published in 1839, while Chopin had already released the Mazurkas and Scherzo No. 2 in 1837 as Opus 30 and 31. In these latest recordings, Maurizio Pollini repeatedly succeeds in highlighting Chopin's captivating musical poetry. Baudelaire once compared this musical poetry to a magnificent bird gliding past the abyss of terror.
