Nach ihrem weltweiten Erfolg mit den Soundtracks f&uuml;r &ldquo;Joker&rdquo; und die HBO-Miniserie &ldquo;Chernobyl&rdquo; ist dieses Werk ihr erstes Studioalbum f&uuml;r DG. &nbsp;
Where to From formte sich aus musikalischen Tagebucheintr&auml;gen &ndash; oft kaum mehr als kurze Melodiefragmente, die Gu&eth;nad&oacute;ttir mit dem Handy aufgezeichnet hatte, Spuren eines &ldquo;konstanten Stroms aus Musik&rdquo;, der sie immer begleitet. Irgendwann schien der Moment gekommen: Einen Monat lang ging sie ihre Sammlung durch und w&auml;hlte Melodien aus, die sie zu Kompositionen ausarbeiten wollte. &nbsp;
&ldquo;Die urspr&uuml;nglichen Ideen und Skizzen haben sich &uuml;ber sechs oder sieben Jahre hinweg in meinem Handy angesammelt&rdquo;, sagt sie. &ldquo;Nachdem ich an so vielen Filmmusiken gearbeitet hatte, war es f&uuml;r mich spannend, einmal ganz anders darauf zu schauen, wie mir Musik eigentlich begegnet. Es gibt viel Raum in der Musik in meinem Kopf. Als ich diese Handyaufnahmen wieder angeh&ouml;rt habe, wurde mir klar: Das ist genau der geistige Raum, in dem ich besonders gern bin.&rdquo; &nbsp;

Oscar, Grammy and Emmy-winning Icelandic composer Hildur Gu&eth;nad&oacute;ttir&rsquo;s releases her new album Where to From. The work is shaped by deep friendships and consists of nine intimate and contemplative original pieces. Following her worldwide success with the soundtracks of &ldquo;Joker&rdquo; and the HBO mini-series &ldquo;Chernobyl&rdquo;, this is her first studio album for DG. &nbsp;
Where to From grew from musical diary entries, some little more than melodic snippets, that Gu&eth;nad&oacute;ttir sang into her phone&rsquo;s voice recorder &ndash; traces of what she calls &ldquo;the constant stream of music&rdquo; that flows through her mind. When the time felt right, she turned to her collection, chose melodies that felt ripe for development and spent a month transforming them into exquisitely crafted compositions. &nbsp;
&ldquo;The original seeds were planted in my phone across six or seven years,&rdquo; she recalls. &ldquo;After working on so many film soundtracks, it was interesting to take a completely different look at the way music comes to me. There&rsquo;s a lot of space in the music that&rsquo;s playing in my head, which I realised from listening to these phone recordings is the mind-space I would generally like to be in.&rdquo; &nbsp;
The album is released digitally, on CD and on vinyl; the photos and doll sculptures as well as the album art are by Gis&egrave;le Vienne.&nbsp;
