Der vor Kurzem mit einem GRAMMY&reg; ausgezeichnete Pianist V&iacute;kingur &Oacute;lafsson k&uuml;ndigt sein anstehendes Album Opus 109 an. Im Mittelpunkt des Projekts steht Beethovens Klaviersonate No. 30 in e-Dur, Op. 109, ein Meisterwerk des Komponisten, das er in einen erhellenden und musikalisch mitrei&szlig;enden zeitlichen Dialog platziert, der den Linien nachsp&uuml;rt, die auf diesem geliebten Leuchtfeuer der Klavierliteratur zusammenlaufen.&nbsp;&nbsp;
W&auml;hrend der Pianist Bach als wichtigen Vorl&auml;ufer der Sonate Op. 109 versteht, die auf dem Album durch drei Werke inklusive der gewaltigen Partita No. 6 vertreten ist, sieht er auch Beethovens eigene Sonate No. 27 in e-Moll, Op. 90 als Vorl&auml;ufer f&uuml;r nicht nur das Op. 109, sondern auch als direkten Einfluss auf Schubert, insbesondere bez&uuml;glich dessen zweis&auml;tziger Sonate in e-Moll, D. 556.&nbsp;&nbsp;
W&auml;hrend die zwei Sonaten von Beethoven und die eine von Schubert den konzeptuellen Rahmen des Programms formen, konfrontieren beide Komponisten Bach &ldquo;wie es jeder gro&szlig;e Komponist muss&rdquo;, sagt &Oacute;lafsson. Aufgrund der Auswahl der Werke ist das gesamte Album im Schl&uuml;sselbereich von E, in Dur und Moll-Modi, die f&uuml;r den Pianisten, der Syn&auml;sthesie hat, wie satte und kr&auml;ftige Gr&uuml;nt&ouml;ne aussehen.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Recent GRAMMY&reg;-winner V&iacute;kingur &Oacute;lafsson announces his new upcoming album Opus 109. At the heart of the project is Beethoven&rsquo;s Piano Sonata No. 30 in E major, Op. 109, a masterpiece of the composer&rsquo;s late period, which V&iacute;kingur places in an illuminating and musically thrilling temporal dialogue, tracing the lineages that converge on this beloved beacon of the piano literature.&nbsp;
While the pianist considers Bach as a vital precursor to Op. 109, represented on the album by three works including the monumental Partita No. 6, he also feels that Beethoven&rsquo;s own Sonata No. 27 in E minor, Op. 90 acted not only as a precursor of Op. 109 but also as a direct influence on Schubert, in particular his early two-movement Sonata in E minor, D. 566.&nbsp;
These two Beethoven and single Schubert sonatas form the conceptual spine of the programme. Yet &Oacute;lafsson notes that both composers confront Bach &ldquo;as every great composer must.&rdquo; The whole album is in the key realm of E, both major and minor modes, which for the pianist, who has synaesthesia, makes it full of lush and vibrant shades of green.&nbsp;
