Grafenegg Festival

Rudolf Buchbinder has been the Artistic Director of the Grafenegg Festival, which is based on the grounds of a spacious castle park near the scenic area of the Wachau, since it opened in 2007. Every year from mid-August to early September, the best orchestras and top musicians from all over the world perform over four intensive weeks on the Wolkenturm open-air stage, in the Auditorium concert hall, in the castle courtyard and in the Riding School, which will house the Rudolf Buchbinder Hall from early summer 2026. The wide-ranging programme in Grafenegg extends from large orchestral concerts and concertante performances of stage works to solo concerts, exquisite chamber music and ensemble formats as well as the Composer-Conductor Workshop Ink Still Wet and the residencies of the Grafenegg Academy Orchestra and the European Union Youth Orchestra.
