Still in her early twenties, the Russian pianist Anna Gourari was already hailed as one of the brightest new voices of her generation when she appeared at the 1992 Munich Klaviersommer, filmed in the Philharmonie im Gasteig. Her programme traces a vivid arc through a century of piano imagination: from the storm-lit virtuosity of Rachmaninov’s Étude-Tableau in C minor to Hindemith’s sly wit in the Nachtstück and Ragtime from his Suite Op. 26. With Chopin’s luminous Nocturne No. 3 and impassioned Scherzo No. 2, and Tchaikovsky’s poetic White Nights from The Seasons, Gourari offers a portrait of Romantic sensibility reimagined through youthful brilliance and poetic insight.
