Max Raabe & Palast Orchester – MTV Unplugged

It shouldn't have worked, but it really did – the moment in 2019 when Max Raabe and his legendary Palast Orchester played for MTV Unplugged. Best-known for recreating the spirit (and sound) of Weimar-era Berlin, Raabe and his band came together with some of the biggest names in 21st-century European popular music – bringing an irresistible swing to collaborations with LEA, Lordi, Namika, rapper Samy Deluxe and many more, in an evening-length set recorded in Berlin's 1913-vintage Clärchens Ballhaus. The results are as entertaining as they are distinctive: music-making that unites wildly different eras and styles and creates an atmosphere entirely its own.
