A prize-winner in the 1972 Queen Elizabeth Competition and a musician who counted Claudio Arrau, Wilhelm Kempff and Nadia Boulanger among his teachers, David Lively soon carved out a wide-ranging career encompassing new music, Romantic rarities and early keyboard music – as well as much else. In this appearance at the Munich Klaviersommer in 1985, he brings his musical intelligence and impeccable technique to extracts from one of Bach's most challenging works, the Art of the Fugue.
