An exclusive Deutsche Grammophon artist since June 2023, Joana Mallwitz took up her appointment as Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Konzerthausorchester Berlin at the start of the 2023/24 season, becoming the first woman to take charge of a major Berlin orchestra. Ever since her acclaimed debut conducting Così fan tutte at the Salzburg Festival in 2020, she has been celebrated as one of the outstanding conductors of her generation. She has enjoyed further international success conducting at the Dutch National Opera, the Semperoper Dresden, the Royal Opera House at Covent Garden, the Bayerische Staatsoper, Oper Frankfurt, the Royal Danish Opera, Norwegian National Opera and Oper Zürich.
Concert engagements have included performances with, among others, the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, the HR- und SWR–Sinfonieorchester, the Philharmonia Orchestra, the Münchner Philharmoniker, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre National de France, Orchestre de Paris and the Göteborger Symphoniker.
