To mark Debussy's 150th birthday in 2012, Charles Dutoit conducted the Verbier Festival Orchestra and, together with young musicians, presented Debussy's opera
"Pelléas et Mélisande." This work is considered a significant piece of the lyric operatic repertoire. The soloists featured Stéphane Degout as Pelléas, Magdalena Kožená as Mélisande, and José Van Dam as Golaud. Through exceptional artistic quality, a perfectly coordinated ensemble, and impressive emotional depth, Dutoit and the orchestra left a lasting impression on the audience.
