Long Yu.
Following "Émigré," a two-act oratorio composed by Aaron Zigman, a little-known episode of World War II is now available. In the 1930s, the people of Shanghai offered refuge to Jewish refugees fleeing Nazi Europe. This story demonstrates how humanity and love can triumph over the devastating forces of history. Pulitzer Prize-winning author Mark Campbell wrote the libretto, while Brock Walsh composed the lyrics. The work is the fifth project in the exclusive collaboration between Deutsche Grammophon, the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, and conductor Long Yu. After an initial digital release earlier this year, "Émigré" is now also available on physical CD.
