Trifonov plays Brahms—with The Cleveland Orchestra & Franz Welser-Möst

Mandel Concert Hall

120 Min

Live from Mandel Concert Hall in Cleveland, Daniil Trifonov joins Franz Welser-Möst and the Cleveland Orchestra for Brahms's fiery and impassioned First Piano Concerto. Symphonic in scale and demanding technical virtuosity, poetic sensibility and sheer stamina from the soloist in equal measure, the concerto was Brahms's first orchestral work to be heard in public when the composer himself premiered it in 1859. To complete the programme, orchestra and conductor present Prokofiev's enigmatic penultimate symphony, premiered in 1947 – one of the composer's most personal works.
