More than a superstar of classical music, Lang Lang is the symbol of an ambitious nation, one that is proud of each of its children that makes it to the West. He is also an idol to the millions of piano students across China. And while the star pianist performs the classical Western repertoire in the world’s biggest concert halls, as a Chinese national, he also feels it is his responsibility to play the music from his homeland. Tracing the journey back to Lang Lang’s roots, having left China eight years before to embark on his international career, the film follows his return home to recharge the batteries, to reconnect with family and friends, and to share the importance of having a personal connection to the music.
