Kian Soltani & Aaron Pilsan perform in Berlin's Meistersaal
Works for Piano & Cello
A well-rehearsed team, cellist Kian Soltani and pianist Aaron Pilsan give a wide-ranging recital featuring music from Schubert and Dvořák to Shostakovich and Piazzolla in Berlin's Meistersaal. The focus lies on Shostakovich's iconic Cello Sonata and Piazzolla's Le grand tango. Written in his young, carefree years when he was in love, Shostakovich harboured, at most, a faint premonition of more ominous times to come in his sonata, reflected for Soltani in the three contrasting movements. The duo bring their concert to a brilliant close with Piazzolla's Le grand tango, which the so-called king of tango once composed for the legendary cellist Rostropovich.
