Biography and Career Highlights

Navarro's illustrious career is marked by numerous accomplishments. He was the Music Director of the Valencia Symphony Orchestra from 1970-1974. He also served as the Associate Conductor of the Noordhollands Philharmonic in Haarlem from 1974-1978. Navarro was the music director of Lisbon’s Portuguese Radio Symphony Orchestra (1976–78) and National Opera at the São Carlos Theater (1980–82). He made his debut as an opera conductor at London’s Covent Garden in 1979 and first appeared in the U.S. in 1980. He was principal guest conductor of the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra (1984–87), Vienna State Opera (1987–91), and Tokyo Philharmonic (from 1992).
