With his project, Nils Petter Molvær fuses powerful beats and pulsating rhythms with passionate trumpet solos. He bridges the gap between the improvised soundscapes of the ECM label and dynamic styles such as trip-hop, drum and bass, ambient, techno, industrial, electronica, and the use of samples. While Molvær is primarily known for his jazz collaborations with renowned Scandinavian musicians as well as Elvin Jones, Gary Peacock, and George Russell, he has also amassed extensive experience as a rock session musician. On "Khmer," he combines the creative openness of jazz with the sonic possibilities of pop and rock.
