During the autumn of 2011, Claudio Abbado, renowned as a leading Mozart conductor, dedicated multiple recordings to the works of the Salzburg master. Abbado commenced with symphonies 39 and 40 in October, progressing to the concertos for horn, flute, and harp, alongside the Sinfonia concertante in November. All these recordings were performed by the Orchestra Mozart, founded by Abbado. The British press hailed these recordings as "the finest Mozart interpretations ever heard" (Grammophone Awards Issue).
