Antonio Vivaldi's famous work "The Four Seasons" has been presented in a completely new version by Max Richter and Daniel Hope. This innovative interpretation, released as part of Deutsche Grammophon's "Recomposed" series, lends the classic a modern character while remaining respectful of the original text.
The orchestral version is based on Richter's comprehensive reworking of the original score, bringing the piece into the present day without losing its essence. Richter himself explains his decision to undertake this project with his long-standing personal relationship to Vivaldi's music, which has accompanied him through various phases of his life since his youth. By combining Vivaldi's Baroque structures with elements of 20th-century minimal music, Richter draws on numerous new sources of inspiration. As a renowned film composer who moves between classical composition and modern musical genres such as electronica and psychedelic music, Richter brings his diverse training to the new arrangement. The recording features outstanding artists such as Daniel Hope on violin and André de Ridder as conductor. The aim of this reinterpretation was to create a coherent, contemporary version that captures the spirit of both Richter and Vivaldi and opens up the musical foundation for new and experienced listeners alike.
