Album insights
Hilary Hahn, a highly successful and well-documented artist, has surprised many with a new release. It's not her first recording of Jennifer Higdon's 2008 Violin Concerto dedicated to her. Rather, the surprise lies in her first-time recording of Tchaikovsky's popular D Major Violin Concerto, a cornerstone of her concert repertoire. Hahn's rendition of this challenging 1878 masterpiece, previously deemed unplayable, showcases the original, uncut version. Released in January 2011 by Deutsche Grammophon and Decca, this recording marks a unique departure for the acclaimed violinist.
