Album insights
"Chamber music represents the most intimate and emotionally rich form of music," according to Anne-Sophie Mutter. Joining forces for their debut collaboration, world-renowned artists across generations, Anne-Sophie Mutter and Daniil Trifonov, have released their first joint album. The centerpiece of this endeavor is one of the classical music world's most iconic pieces. Performing at the Baden-Baden Festspielhaus in June, Mutter, celebrating the 40th anniversary of her professional debut in 2016, and Trifonov, now in his mid-twenties, presented Schubert’s Piano Quintet in A major affectionately known as the "Trout Quintet." In addition to this renowned piece, the program featured Schubert's Nocturno, a masterful late work for violin, cello, and piano, along with renditions of his songs Serenade and Ave Maria, arranged for violin and piano. Mutter, having recorded the "Trout Quintet" for the first time, expressed, "This quintet provided me with the opportunity to collaborate not only with Daniil but also with young artists who have passed through the school of my foundation. Making music among the five of us was akin to Mendelssohn's view of a musical dialogue among erudite friends."
