Celebrating Rachmaninoff's 150th birthday last year, pianists Daniil Trifonov and Sergei Babayan have released an album featuring piano duets. Recorded live at the Vienna Konzerthaus in May 2023, their joint performance includes the composer's suites for two pianos and a vibrant rendition of his Symphonic Dances. Babayan praises Rachmaninoff as a genius in both composition and piano performance, highlighting how playing his music for two pianos allows us to witness his virtuosity as if he were playing on a single piano.
