On August 24, 2018, Alice Sara Ott's album "Nightfall" was released by Deutsche Grammophon. On it, the pianist explores the interplay between light and dark, which she illuminates impressively through works by Claude Debussy, Erik Satie, and Maurice Ravel. Ott highlights the fascinating transition between day and night, which appears only for a brief moment before vanishing again. In her interpretation, she particularly emphasizes the different moods that this transition evokes in the music. The deliberate selection and combination of pieces, as well as the challenges overcome during the recording, lend the album a very personal touch and reflect Ott's artistic development. On the occasion of her 30th birthday and her tenth anniversary with Deutsche Grammophon, Ott underscores her close connection to the French composers who significantly influenced not only her but also the Parisian art scene at the turn of the century.
