Brahms. This Selection
After a three-year hiatus, Grigory Sokolov releases a new double album featuring recordings from his successful 2019/20 concert tour. The program includes Beethoven's early Third Sonata and the late Sonatas Nos. 27 and 32, complemented by Brahms's captivating Opus 118 and 119. This selection highlights Sokolov's exceptional virtuosity and his ability to render music across eras with a vibrant and ethereal quality, always keeping the conclusion of each work in mind. On April 11, 2019, Der Tagesspiegel described him as "one of the world's most important living pianists." In a review dated January 29, 2015, The Guardian praised his playing as overwhelming in its clarity, articulation, and richness of color, calling his interpretation a true treasure.
