Max Richter's Rise Max Richter's rise in the contemporary music scene was decisively shaped by his score for Ari Folman's 2008 animated documentary "Waltz with Bashir."
Released by Deutsche Grammophon, the score captivates with its impressive intensity and reflects the powerful imagery of the film, which grapples with historical tragedies and psychological trauma. The New York Village Voice highlighted how Richter's dark, martial composition for "Waltz with Bashir" combines a sense of alienation with a distinctive visual aesthetic. The work is considered a masterpiece in its own right, a rarity for soundtracks. For his composition, Richter received the European Film Academy Award for Best Composer in 2008 and was also nominated for other major awards. The soundtrack was digitally re-released on June 5, 2020, with the international CD edition and the first-ever LP release following on August 14.
