Album insights
The album "Blue Hour" features clarinetist Andreas Ottensamer and pianist Yuja Wang performing romantic music by Brahms, Weber, and Mendelssohn. Ottensamer serves as the solo clarinetist for Weber's Clarinet Concerto No. 1 conducted by Mariss Jansons with the Berlin Philharmonic. Additionally, the album includes Mendelssohn's "Songs without Words," originally composed for solo piano and adapted here for clarinet and piano. Completing the repertoire are Weber's dynamic Grand Duo Concertant and two velvety-melancholic compositions by Johannes Brahms: his Intermezzo in A Major and "Like Melodies, it Moves Me."
