Dustin O’Halloran Dustin O’Halloran embarked on a unique musical journey, inspired by the connection between time and music. He reinterprets his early solo piano works, sometimes adding fresh string arrangements, and records them in select locations in Iceland that hold personal significance for him.
Among these locations is the historic, wooden Fríkirkjan Church in Reykjavík. It was there that O’Halloran first performed in Iceland with Jóhann Jóhannsson and Hauschka, an experience that shaped his initial visit to the country. The album title, “Silfur,” refers to the Icelandic Silfurberg crystal, known in English as the Silver Rock. This particular type of rock has the ability to split light, causing objects to appear double. O’Halloran describes this very phenomenon as a symbol of his perception of time: it divides into past and present, yet remains interconnected.
