Seong-Jin Cho
For his sixth release on the Deutsche Grammophon label, pianist Seong-Jin Cho returns to the works of Frédéric Chopin. Released internationally on August 27, 2021, the album 'Chopin: Piano Concerto No. 2 · Scherzos' unites these beloved compositions in interpretations characterized by thoughtful poetry and youthful zeal. For this concert, Cho once again collaborates with the London Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Gianandrea Noseda, with whom he has enjoyed a productive artistic relationship for the past five years. The South Korean pianist, who in 2015 became the first from his country to win First Prize at the International Chopin Competition in Warsaw, impressed the seventeen-member jury with his technical mastery and artistic maturity – particularly remarkable given his age of only 21 at the time. Following the success of his first studio album featuring Chopin's First Concerto and the Four Ballades, Cho now fulfills his wish to complement this release with its logical counterpart: a combination of the Second Concerto and the Four Scherzos. ]
