In the Markus Sittikus Hall in Hohenems, baritone André Schuen and pianist Daniel Heide completed their Schubert trilogy of late song cycles with Winterreise. Schuen emphasizes that this recording is considered a milestone in the song repertoire. Schubert's work, based on poems by Wilhelm Müller and imbued with profound heartbreak, will also serve as the musical foundation for Alex Helfrecht's upcoming live-action animated film, 'A Winter's Journey'. Schuen describes the cycle as the central work that immediately comes to mind when one thinks of songs.
