Friedrich Gulda was a maverick, a provocateur and a pianist of genius, never happier than when vaulting between genres and living dangerously with artists from the worlds of jazz, fusion and pop. He created the Munich Klaviersommer as a creative crucible – a meeting-place of musical minds – and in this concert from July 1989 Gulda himself is presenter and performer in a typically eclectic programme. It begins with Agnes Baltsa's inimitable Mozart before spinning off into Gulda's own fusion project "A Preview of Things to Come" – featuring his regular collaborator, Austrian jazz legend Joe Zawinul, plus Zawinul's own star-studded Syndicate.
