Tito Puente, Dizzy Gillespie, Wynton Marsalis, Béla Fleck…when it comes to the legend that is Michel Camilo, it’s hard to think of a late 20th-century jazz great with whom he hasn’t worked. But this irrepressible Dominican-born fusion pianist is never more himself than when playing with close friends, and that was the case on this summer night in Munich in 1991. Long-time Camilo sideman and collaborator Cliff Almond joins Camilo at the head of a handpicked quintet for a set with a very personal flavour: standards by Gillespie and Kenny Dorham mingle with a generous selection of Camilo’s own compositions.
- Soloists:
- Michel Camilo (Piano), Ned Mann (Bass), Cliff Almond (Drums), Michel Mossman (Trumpet), Ralph Bowen (Saxophone)
