Friedrich Gulda: Mozart For The People Vol. 2

"Mozart for the People" was how the Austrian pianist Friedrich Gulda described the series of all-Mozart recitals that he gave in Munich, Milan and Paris in 1981, and everything about this concert– from Gulda's deliberately casual attire to the modernist surroundings of Munich's Amerikahaus – was designed to tease what Gulda called the "reactionary monkeys" of the classical music establishment. But there is nothing frivolous about his performances: lucid, searching interpretations of two of Mozart's most imposing mature sonatas, as well as the superb C minor Fantasia K.475 - a true meeting of creative minds at their most inventive and sublime.
