Hollywood comes to life in this performance by the Berliner Philharmoniker at the Waldbühne in 2015. Simon Rattle leads the orchestra in their traditional end of the season concert with a programme filled with some of the best-known and beloved film music by Erich Korngold, Scott Bradley, and John Williams. Slotted within the image-evoking music, star pianist Lang Lang joins the stage to perform Grieg’s lyrical and entrancing Piano Concerto. As the first and only piano concerto he ever wrote, it is one of Grieg’s biggest and most powerful works, and having been hugely successful at its premiere, the work is one of the most frequently performed of all concertos.
