Chick Corea was a born communicator, and a natural collaborator. "I discovered I didn't want to be mysterious, esoteric and non-communicative," he told an interviewer in 1972. "Music that is very direct, simple and happy has the effect of lifting them up – that's the kind of effect I like to create on people." Understandably, he found a natural partner in the extraordinary young flautist Steve Kujala. In this concert – recorded live at the 1985 Munich Klaviersommer – they perform tracks from their then-new album "Voyage" and also cut free in huge, outgoing improvisations: a unique jazz partnership captured at its most creative.
