In 1996, the collaboration between Argentinian bandoneonist Dino Saluzzi and the Munich-based German-Austrian-Australian Rosamunde Quartet began under the title "Kultrum." With this collaboration, Saluzzi explored new avenues by further developing his previous ECM productions, not only acknowledging but also transcending musical boundaries: new connections were forged between composition and improvisation, between so-called classical and popular music, and between jazz, folk music, and tango. The European tour of this project met with great acclaim from both critics and audiences. There are strong indications that the music will appeal to a wide audience. [1]
