Patricia Petibon
On the album 'Melancolía: Spanish Arias and Songs,' soprano Patricia Petibon unfolds her deep connection to Spanish music and culture. With exceptional interpretive power and musical sensitivity, she presents a diverse collection of works—from zarzuela to art songs, folk songs, and Brazilian pieces such as Villa-Lobos's Aria Cantilena and the traditional Afro-Brazilian 'Ogundé uareré.' Released in 2011, the album also includes the world premiere of a song cycle dedicated to her by Nicolas Bacri. Particularly noteworthy are her unique interpretations of the zarzuela hit 'Adios, Granada' and the folk song 'El vito,' for which she collaborated with flamenco musicians.
