Sergei Prokofiev
Sergei Prokofiev's famous children's composition 'Peter and the Wolf' receives a modern reimagining with 'Peter and the Wolf in Hollywood,' which transposes the classic fairy tale to present-day California. This innovative interpretation was produced by the New York studio Giants Are Small in collaboration with Deutsche Grammophon and is available as both an album and an interactive app for children on iTunes. The story, which celebrates its 80th anniversary next year, has been completely updated: The orphan boy, originally from Russia, now travels to Los Angeles to visit his grandfather and encounters modern versions of the familiar characters. The narration is provided by prominent musicians such as Campino for the German version and Alice Cooper for the English version, alongside renowned voice actors including Sting, David Bowie, Sean Connery, Christopher Lee, Loriot, Otto, Karlheinz Böhm, and Peter Ustinov. The recording features the German National Youth Orchestra under the baton of acclaimed conductor Alexander Shelley and is released by Deutsche Grammophon.
