Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla launched her career with Deutsche Grammophon in 2019 with an album dedicated to Mieczysław Weinberg's Symphonies Nos. 2 and 21. This release, coinciding with the centenary of this neglected composer, received numerous awards, including Gramophone Recording of the Year. Gražinytė-Tyla was also honored with the Opus Klassik award as Conductor of the Year.
With her new work, 'Weinberg: Symphonies Nos. 3 & 7 and Flute Concerto No. 1', she continues her efforts to raise awareness of the music of the Warsaw-born composer. For this new recording, she collaborates with a variety of musicians, while the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra accompanies Symphony No. 3.
