Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin Nearly a century after his US premiere with the Philadelphia Orchestra in 1916, the ensemble, together with its current Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin, commemorated this momentous anniversary.
The recording of this commemorative performance is now available and impressively demonstrates Nézet-Séguin's exceptional talent as a contemporary Mahler interpreter. The Philadelphia Orchestra is joined by first-rate soloists, including Angela Meade, Erin Wall, and Lisette Oropesa. The cast is completed by three distinguished choral ensembles: the Westminster Symphonic Choir, the Choral Arts Society of Washington, and the American Boychoir.
