Elīna Garanča Elīna Garanča released her debut as a solo recitalist with Malcolm Martineau on piano.
The album centers on Robert Schumann's song cycle 'Frauenliebe und Leben, Op. 42,' which musically portrays the various phases of a woman's life. In addition, the artist selected several songs by Johannes Brahms that express diverse emotional landscapes. The repertoire aims to depict a broad spectrum of emotional states. The sensitive pianist Malcolm Martineau supported Garanča in her exploration of these emotional soundscapes. After both artists had already presented the program together on concert stages, the album was recorded in Berlin in July 2020. For Garanča, the song embodies the most intimate form of musical expression, characterized by longing and imaginative elements.
