Magdalena Hoffmann Magdalena Hoffmann dedicates her second album, "Fantasia," to Baroque music.
Her focus is on the contrast between the strict form and the improvisational spirit of this era. The harpist interprets fantasies and preludes originally composed for keyboard instruments or lute, revealing a new spectrum of sound. The program includes works by Johann Sebastian Bach, his sons Wilhelm Friedemann and Carl Philipp Emanuel, as well as contemporaries such as Handel and Weiss. With the unique timbre and flexibility of her harp, Hoffmann opens up new spatial and dynamic dimensions to the repertoire. She emphasizes that her instrument can generate an intense inner tension and emotional depth that is experienced as liberating. Each fantasy thus acquires a constantly changing, vibrant character that can never be definitively captured.
