Canadian mezzo-soprano Emily D'Angelo is joined by pianist Sophia Muñoz for this Musical Moment, captured up-close in Berlin. Together the two artists present a varied programme mixing composers past and present and shining a spotlight on pioneering female composers including Florence Price, Fanny Hensel, Clara Schumann and Rebecca Clarke. The early 20th century is further represented by songs by Alexander Zemlinsky and Arnold Schoenberg, complemented by settings of Emily Dickinson by Aaron Copland. From the 21st century, D'Angelo and Muñoz perform Cecilia Livingston's Penelope, inspired by the figure of Odysseus's ever-faithful wife, and an excerpt from Missy Mazzoli's multimedia chamber opera Song from the Uproar.
