Pappano conducts Brahms, Mendelssohn & Dvořák – with Janine Jansen
Czech Philharmonic
120 Min
Janine Jansen is the soloist in Mendelssohn's ever-popular Violin Concerto in E minor in this programme, streaming live from the Rudolfinum in Prague. She joins the Czech Philharmonic and conductor Antonio Pappano in a programme of Romantic music that begins with Brahms's rarely-heard Nänie, an 1881 setting of words by Friedrich Schiller for chorus and orchestra composed in memory of a close friend. The concert concludes in rousing style with Dvořák's Slavonic Dances, Op. 72, originally inspired by Brahms's own wildly popular sets of Hungarian Dances.
