Long Yu conducts Aaron Zigman's Émigré

New York Philharmonic

100 Min

Long Yu conducts the New York Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus and a hand-picked cast in composer Aaron Zigman's new oratorio, Émigré, featuring lyrics by Grammy-winning lyricist Mark Campbell. Telling a sweeping tale of love and loss, it follows the story of two brothers fleeing Germany in 1938 to Shanghai and their coming to terms with their new lives, engaging with themes that remain as relevant today as ever. Filmed at the Wu Tsai Theater, David Geffen Hall, this US premiere is a major event on the New York cultural calendar and an important performance for a significant new work – first heard and recorded in Shanghai and a co-commission between Long Yu, the Shanghai Philharmonic and the New York Philharmonic.
