Friedrich Gulda & Günther Rabl: Landschaft mit Pianist

Nothing was ever predictable when Friedrich Gulda was involved; this Austrian virtuoso pianist was simultaneously composer, improviser, crossover pioneer and modernist provocateur. As founder of the Munich Klaviersommer, his personal involvement led to some truly eye- and ear-opening performances. Here, in Munich’s Carl-Orff-Saal in the summer of 1987 he gives a full-length performance of Landschaft mit Pianist, an hour-long fantasy for piano and tape specially created for Gulda by his friend and former collaborator, the Linz-born electro-acoustic composer Gunther Rabl.
